"I love this second book in this great series! The twists and turns I didn't see coming and it made me want to keep reading. I love Piper and how resourceful she is to get what she wants when she wants it. She is willing to do anything for those she loves, even if she gets hurt in the process. I cannot wait for book three!"

Their Shifter Princess 2 Pack War eBook May Dawson Reviews

  • I love this series. May Dawson has quickly become one of my favorite authors after I stumbled upon her Wild Angels - Lilith and her harem series I’ve made it a point to stay up to date with her releases and the Their Shifter Princess series does not disappoint! The characters are developing and advancing as we continue to learn more about the Shifter community and the events around what happened to the pack all those years ago. I can’t wait for book 3 or to read anything else from this author!
  • Another great book in the Their Shifter Princess series. I really enjoyed reading this book and can’t wait to read the next book in this series. I would definitely recommend this book.
  • I had mixed feeling about this book.
In this book we see the MC go to another pack in order to see if it is safe enough for her little sister. She leaves behind her mates when she goes.

While with her sisters pack she starts to develop feelings towards others. Still not a problem for me. Hello RH the more the merrier. One of her mates seemed to have a problem with her pursing the others from her sisters pack. Some of her mates we're ok with it, others working through it.

What I didn't like was that even though one of her mates didn't like the idea of her pursing others, she still did since her other mates seemed ok with it. This didn't sit well with me, seemed somewhat disloyal to their relationship.

Loved the plot of the book as well as the new characters that were introduced. Even though it was hard to invest in them based off the reason I mentioned above. Didn't get to see much progression of her mates since she was with the other pack for most of the story.

I will still give book 3 a chance just based off of the plot, but I hope the issue is solved with her mate soon as it may ruin that book for me
  • This book has definitely made it difficult to figure out if I truly liked it or not. Some parts were great and well written and had depth and then in the next page it was frilly and random that didn’t really do much for the story. The characters haven’t seemed to grow in depth either which is disappointing. Not sure if I’ll finish this series.
  • I love this second book in this great series! The twists and turns I didn't see coming and it made me want to keep reading. I love Piper and how resourceful she is to get what she wants when she wants it. She is willing to do anything for those she loves, even if she gets hurt in the process. I cannot wait for book three!
  • Action and suspense at every turn. You’ll find yourself holding your breath and waiting for what happens next. I wish there was a bit more on the romance front with all the sexual tension floating around Piper and her men. I can’t wait to see what happens next!
  • I absolutely love this series. Each book just gets better. A good plot and with the twists in this book I could not put it down. It already had fantastic characters but even more has been added. I can't wait to see what happens next.
  • Woah woah woah WOAH!!! I didn't think I could love this series any more than I already did, but damn if this book didn't top the last one! It had everything, but that ending! Agh it's going to kill me waiting for the next book!

As before with the Immortal Highlanders series, I was totally caught up before I got to the second page. I was swallowed up by both Evander's and Rachel's grief. I was curious about Evander, and wondered if I would like his character as much as I had the heroes and heroines of the previous books. His own unselfish love in return, and his heartbreaking sacrifice for his mate and his people, wrought him into a better person, one worthy of the devotion of his Lady and his Clan. Evander A Scottish Time Travel Romance Immortal Highlander Book 3 Audible Audio Edition Hazel Hunter William Macleod Books Reviews

  • Title Evander
    Series Immortal Highlander
    Author Hazel Hunter
Designation Book Three of Series, Full-Length Standalone, No Cliffhanger, Medieval Historical/Time Travel/Fantasy Romance
    Reading Platform Edition
My Rating Five Sexy Riveting Stars*****
**Disclaimer Although there is an underlying interconnected storyline running throughout the series, each release focuses primarily on one couple finding love and their happy ending. I believe each of the books can still be read as standalones. The author does a fabulous job of giving the reader sufficient backstory, but I recommend reading the books in order of their release. It's one decision I'm sure you'll rever regret.

Oh my! I loved, loved, loved this book! I'm fascinated by stories featuring mythology, folklore, and fantasy, adore Time Travel Romance, infatuated with Medieval Historical Fiction, addicted to steamy romance, obsessed with strong, sassy heroines, completely smitten with sexy Scottish Highlanders from any century, and when I can find it all in one great read, I'm in heaven! And that's exactly what Hazel Hunter delivered in Evander, the third riveting release in her new Immortal Highlander Series! There are so many things I truly enjoyed about this book so let's talk details!

Evander is a captivating, imaginative, fast-paced, exceptionally well-crafted and edited, full-length standalone historical medieval time travel romance with paranormal, supernatural, and fantasy elements, and filled to the brim with compelling drama, pulse-pounding danger, edge-of-your-seat action, daring adventure, nail-biting suspense, heart-wrenching angst, steamy passion, and heartwarming romance. The narrative is beautifully written in the third person with multiple perspectives and this story had quite a few. I stopped counting at seven! lol... In some instances, multiple points of view can be somewhat confusing to a reader if they aren't skillfully written, but Hunter does an excellent job. All the perspectives are clearly discernible by chapters. I always enjoy stories written with clearly defined multiple perspectives. It allows me to know the thoughts of all the primary characters, not just the protagonists, and I especially love it when we know what's going on in the convoluted minds of the bad guys. I think it adds so much more depth and understanding of the story. The dialogue is smart, snappy, and flows effortlessly. Obviously, Hunter did her research. I found the language and terminology of the era to be articulate, exceptionally well executed and authentic to the era. In other words, Hunter's fourteenth-century characters spoke like fourteenth-century Scottish Highlanders. In reality, none of us would be able to understand an actual fourteenth-century Highlander, but Hunter did make them sound as realistic as possible, which definitely added to my enjoyment of this story. But without a doubt, my favorite element of all of Hunter's books is the characters, and this story is no exception. Hunter gives us a large cast of intriguing, engaging, and well-developed characters who literally explode from the pages, grab your imagination, demand your undivided attention, and completely capture your heart. I fell head over heels for the two protagonists, present-day heiress Rachael Ingram and fourteenth-century immortally cursed Scottish Highlander Evander Talorc. OMG! I loved these two characters! Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed all the characters but the lovely, heroic Rachel Ingram grabbed me in the first few pages of the book, and I became completely obsessed with surly, ill-mannered, totally despicable, and completely unlikable Pritani warrior Evander Talorc when he was introduced in the first book of the series as the woman-hating and always disgruntled Sensechal for Clan McDonnel of the Island of Skye. In Book 2, Evander became even more detestable when he betrayed his clan for Fiona Marphee, a woman from a nearby village who'd served as a spy for the undead Roman Legion. The two fled together, never to be heard from again - or so everyone thought. Personally, I suspected we'd not heard the last of Evander and was ecstatic when I learned the third book would be devoted to his story. I've always been intrigued by an unrepentant, but hopefully redeemable antihero and Evander Talorc fit the bill perfectly. He's the kind of character everyone loves to hate, which made him all the more interesting! And Rachel Ingram's story just broke my heart! OMG, I was blubbering like a baby before the end of the first chapter. But the interaction between this unlikely couple is truly remarkable and completely mesmerizing. Their attraction is undeniable and their fate inescapable. Unlike the other couples of the series, when Evander and Rachel meet, you know it can only be fate. Both Evander and Rachel are grieving over past mistakes and desperately try to deny what's between them, resulting in a slow, sensual and very steamy burn, the likes of which can neither be ignored nor denied. But once they finally surrender to their feelings, it's katie-bar-the-door! Oh my! Sparks fly and passion ignites! Evander and his war spirit are totally bada$$! lol...There wasn't as much humor, but there was just as much emotion, if not more, in this story. Heck, I think I sobbed through the entire book! I still have whiplash from all the plot twists, and there were quite a few scenes that just ripped my heart right out of my chest but by the end, I was happy, satisfied, well entertained, and completely smitten with Evander Talorc! Well done, Hazel Hunter! Well done, indeed! Evander is my new favorite! I have no idea how Hunter will top this book, but I have every confidence she will!!!

Did I like this book? No, I loved it! I was glued to my seat, white knuckling my ereader, completely captivated with my heart fluttering wildly in my chest as the time flew as quickly as the pages! I could not stop reading! I'm totally smitten with this entire series and can hardly wait to see what Hunter has in store for her readers in Book 4! I've already preordered my copy! Would I recommend it? You bet and I a but only for adult readers since it does contain several explicit love scenes! If you enjoy well-written medieval historical tales with supernatural elements, and liberally seasoned with time travel, action adventure, danger, drama, passion, and romance, then this book is screaming your name! And if you loved the movie and series Highlander, this story will, most likely, tickle your fancy! Will I read this author again? Absolutely! And finally, was I entertained? Completely! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read!

Shortly after losing her only family in a fire, wealthy heiress Rachel Ingram marries David Carver, the son of her influential parents' trusted attorney. But instead of the happy honeymoon picnic her new husband promised, Rachael receives a dreadful surprise. Only hours after their wedding, Rachel's new husband stabs her in the back - literally - and buries her alive. Too bad her lifelong intuition about people failed her when she needed it most. She'd never been able to get a read on David and should have suspected it was because he was an unfeeling monster, incapable of love. Unfortunately, Rachel discovers too late he only wanted her for her newly inherited billions. But instead of dying, the blood from her mortal wound activates her Druid ancestry and transports Rachel through a magical portal to the Highlands of Scotland, 800 years in the past. And straight into the arms of the traitorous, cursed, immortal Highlander Evander Talorc, who had been about to take his own life at the grave of Fiona Marphee. Oh my! Rachael awakens with no idea where she is or how she survived, but the one thing she does know is the fierce, frightening warrior Evander Talorc may be her only hope of remaining alive. Will the unlikely pair find a way to avoid their enemies, save each other, and possibly find true love in the process? We'll see! Buckle up, my lovelies! Evander and Rachael's story is one heck of a wild ride!

~ Judi E. Easley for Blue Cat Review

    What it’s about…

Rachel Ingram’s parents have recently died in an electrical fire in their home. David, Rachel’s fiance, has encouraged her to move up their wedding. After putting her legal affairs in David’s father’s hands, Rachel and David drive off to a justice of the peace and then to a seaside cottage honeymoon. Rachel hasn’t been feeling well and falls asleep on the drive to the cottage.

David is full of surprises for his new wife. Not only wasn’t the power-of-attorney she signed for him, but for her billions of dollars. Now the seaside cottage has turned into an oak grove picnic. And the sweet HEA she envisioned has turned into a stab in the back, literally. As Rachel bleeds her life away, David digs her grave. Once he has a shallow trench, he lowers her into it and begins covering her the dirt. The couple talks the whole time about why he’s doing this. It appears David has huge gambling debts with threats attached to them. Rachel is his easiest way of taking care of them.

Evander has brought flowers to Fiona’s grave for six months since she died of the plaque. Today, as he lays the flowers on the grave, a hand grasps his forearm. Could this be his Fiona come back to him? And he digs out the woman in the shallow grave. She has a lot of blood on her back but she seems to have no injury. She speaks strangely and wears strange clothing. This is a time of superstition. Evander takes her to his home and takes care of her. He gives her some of Fiona’s clothing and teaches her how to do things the way they do things here. He keeps her safe.

Can these two broken people heal each others’ hearts? Can Rachel help Evander reconnect with his clan? Can they help the clan resolve the problem of the undead?

    Technical Tidbits…

The cover is the same style as the other two books in the series. This time the plaid is purple, which appeals to me greatly, being my favorite color.

The storyline is very good. I’m not sure where Ms. Hunter gets these ideas, but she’s really good at it!

The characters are excellent. Of course, we have the characters we know from the previous books, Lachlan and Kinley from Book One and Tharaen and Diana from Book Two. Plus we are familiar with the people who work around the castle and the other chieftains who are normally in attendance around Lachlan. There are usually one or two of the druids around as well, so we’ve gotten to know them. We even know a lot of the undead Roman legion. Hazel has done a wonderful job of introducing us to both Rachel Ingram and Evander. We met Evander before when he actually stabbed Tharaen in the neck, which is the only way to kill one of these immortals.

The pace was good. It moved along rapidly, but not so fast that you couldn’t keep up with what was going on.

The tension was good. It didn’t have me on needles and pins because having read the two previous books, I was comfortable with both the style and the concept of the books. So I had certain expectations.

Hazel Hunter has a wonderful style and quality to her writing that makes any book she writes a pleasure to read. This is not her only series. Nor is it the only one I read of hers. I have never been disappointed when I have picked up one of her books. It surprises me that her name is not better known. I am certainly doing my best to get her name out there. You can look forward to seeing more of her books reviewed here on my blog and all the sites I post.

And this is where you STOP if you don’t want to see any SPOILERS…

The good, the bad, and the ugly…and how much it lit up my life… ✰✰✰✰✰

I love the characters that Hazel has created this time! David and his father are the sleaziest ones. His father is Rachel’s lawyer. A rather intimate relationship, don’t you think? Well, he introduces David to Rachel for just the purpose David has in mind. David has huge gambling debts and he’s being threatened with danger if he doesn’t pay them off. So he needs someone with big money to be able to pay them off. He tampers with the wiring in the family house so that it burns. That separates Rachel from her parents and leaves her completely alone and vulnerable. What would be more natural than to turn to your trusted lawyer and your fiance, especially when they are father and son? Sleazebags, both of them! Too bad only one of them gets punished! Is that considered being quartered?

The table is what convinces Rachel that she has traveled back in time and this is real. And she accepts it so passively. That amazed me. She never really fought any of this. She wasn’t happy about the clothes, but she seemed to accept everything else. She actually seemed to prefer this time to her own time. Well, except when the “chicks from the future club” met. Then they all had things from the future they missed. They all agreed TP was the most missed item. I’m not so sure about the inside of birch bark. And Rachel had asked Evander to make her a simple rotisserie so she could cook her meat without the constant stewing and hauling all the water. She’s very clever about blending the times and finding ways to adapt.

The to-ing and fro-ing between life and death was rather interesting this time. It was done a bit more in this book than in others. It was even bargained for. Evander throws his deadly spear for which he is so well known and skewers Rachel and the Marquess Ermindale. That makes him dust and the undead run away. Evander grabs Rachel and offers his life as forfeit to Taraen, but Lachlan claims the right as chief of the clan. That’s Rachel and Evander dead. Then the spirits of Rachel and Fiona meet in the grove and Fiona is reuniting with her father there. She tells Rachel to tell Evander that she really didn’t mean to betray the clan and she wishes him the best. Then Evander and Rachel meet and Evander explains he has forfeited his life for her and Rachel is returned to life. She grabs the druid Cailean and forces him to bring Evander back using something she’s seen in his mind. Lachlan and the clan accept that Evander has forfeited his life once already and can be accepted back into the clan. So now they are both alive and immortal. And Fiona’s spirit is settled with her father’s. For some reason, my mind was taken with all this running around of live and dead people trying to settle Evander’s debt. It sort of became a cartoon in my head! I won’t draw it, but after you read it, I think you’ll be able to picture it, too!

I’m all set to get the ARC for Tormod, now, so that I can continue the story. I love this series! It just takes me awhile to get to each book because I have so many books scheduled to read! Starting Friday, December 1, Monday, December 4th, I will be reading Christmas themed books until Christmas, then I go back to regular books. And I’m already scheduled into February! I do some swapping out with requests and my own choices when I need to. My New Year’s Resolution is that every Monday I will have a review of the “In Death” series by J.D. Robb. I have been meaning to re-read this series for some time and now is the time. I now own all but 4 of them in e-book format, so I’m going to start reading them right after Christmas. I know they aren’t new, but I don’t always read new. And this is a series worth reading again! That’s why I bought it! Who knows, maybe y’all will read it along with me and we can discuss them along the way.

  • This is how to book as the other reviewer said. It seems to be a workbook for an app. It also suggests downloading computer files. I wish this had been made clearer in the summary.
  • I’ve tried learning Spanish with apps along with Spanish classes and tutoring. Although the person to person tutoring has been the most successful, I needed a tool to help me practice. I recently moved to a Spanish-speaking country and the lessons and tips in this book have been very helpful. I’m now using AnkiApp cards to practice words and phrases to use in my daily living. The author included how to set up the cards which was most helpful since I’m not a super-tech person. Would recommend this book for anyone wanting to learn Spanish.
  • As of now my tablet is converted to Spanish as I’m writing this. I really want to learn Spanish and fast, but I really struggle with it. This book gave some great ideas like using flashcard apps and reading and watching things you enjoy. When you are passionate about your material it really helps. Check it out.
  • The only thing it teaches you is how to make some random online flashcards. Incredibly disappointing!!
  • Not at al what it states. No Spanish learning at all. Just tells you tips that you can get from anywhere.
  • Disappointing. Each chapter seemed like a regurgitation of items previously mentioned. Refers to apps that are labor intensive I was a expecting a roadmap on how to become fluent. This is more or less a random series of common sense things - listen to the news in Spanish, etc.
  • I found that the advice here is rather helpful, but self serving in that they have a product for sale for which this book is an advertisement.
  • TOO MUCH EMPHASIS ON MANUAL AIDS. NOT ENOUGH ON THE LANGUAGE ITSELF.

Create. This can be a terrifying word for so many. And yet, somewhere along the way we forgot we were designed to do just that. We increasingly miss the beauty of reflection, creativity, and the intimacy with God that creating brings as our world often values productivity and product. We were created to create, from craftsman to novice; from ministry leader to searcher. Not only for our own healing and joy, but for the freedom it brings to the world around us. This forgotten tool of creativity has been tucked away in our closets with our kindergarten crayons and longs to resurface. These stories offer simple tools and ideas to help engage people with the arts so they might be used for their God-given purpose freedom.

Journalist Leander Kahney reveals how CEO Tim Cook has led Apple to astronomical success after the death of Steve Jobs in 2011.

The death of Steve Jobs left a gaping void at one of the most innovative companies of all time. Jobs wasn't merely Apple's iconic founder and CEO; he was the living embodiment of a global megabrand. It was hard to imagine that anyone could fill his shoes - especially not Tim Cook, the intensely private executive who many thought of as Apple's "operations drone".

But seven years later, as journalist Leander Kahney reveals in this definitive audiobook, things at Apple couldn't be better. Its stock has nearly tripled, making it the world's first trillion-dollar company. Under Cook's principled leadership, Apple is pushing hard into renewable energy, labor- and environmentally friendly supply chains, user privacy, and highly recyclable products. From the massive growth of the iPhone to lesser-known victories like the Apple Watch, Cook is leading Apple to a new era of success.

Drawing on access with several Apple insiders, Kahney tells the inspiring story of how one man attempted to replace someone irreplaceable and - through strong, humane leadership, supply-chain savvy, and a commitment to his values - succeeded more than anyone had thought possible.

Ebook Tim Cook The Genius Who Took Apple to the Next Level Audible Audio Edition Leander Kahney Jonathan Cowley Penguin Audio Books

"I had eagerly anticipated this book. Tim Cook has been the CEO of one of the world’s most valuable companies for almost nine years. Yet, ironically, this is the first detailed attempt in book form to closely examine the man’s background leading up to his assuming control after Steve Jobs’ death in 2011 and the influence that he has had in re-shaping the culture of Apple Inc. while bringing the company’s market capitalization to a staggering trillion dollars.

Kahney opens with a quick introduction entitled “Killing It” which summarizes the industry dominance that Apple currently enjoys and makes it clear that Cook gets a lion’s share of the credit. He goes on to introduce the six core values that Cook has ingrained in the company’s strategy: accessibility; education; environment; inclusion and diversity; privacy and security; and supplier responsibility. These lay the groundwork for very detailed discussion in the second half of the book of Cook’s passion for coupling good strategy with good values and his success in achieving it.

The first chapter describes in some detail the interesting specifics of the leadership handover from Steve Jobs to Tim Cook that culminated in 2011. Kahney goes on to describe the reservations that many pundits had regarding his ability to sustain Apple’s momentum. In retrospect, those many who predicted imminent failure are now a little hard to be found.

The next few chapters highlight Cook’s early life and education near Mobile, Alabama, his matriculation at Auburn culminating in a BS in Industrial Engineering, and his pre-Apple stints at IBM, Intelligent Electronics, and Compaq. Cook spent the first twelve years of his career at IBM. I had the good fortune to work closely with Tim during much of that time, which was characterized by high volume manufacturing at IBM’s Research Triangle Park, NC facility and most notably the bringing of the IBM Personal Computer Company and the manufacture of its exciting array of products to the site. Those were heady times for all of us lucky enough to be involved. Cook was every bit the leader that Kahney describes in the book. Nobody outworked Tim Cook. His work was his life, and apparently still is. It was also telling that two of his current right hand men at Apple, Jeff Williams (Apple’s current COO) and Bill Frederick, were part of our IBM team.

Kahney proceeds to spend the remaining three quarters of the book describing Cook’s hiring out of Compaq by Steve Jobs, his increasingly significant roles in managing operations at Apple, his appointment as COO, his serving as interim CEO during two of Jobs’ illnesses and convalescences, his 2011 elevation to CEO, and his subsequent seven years in leading Apple to the pinnacle of Silicon Valley and the tech industry.

Kahney does a good job describing the facts surrounding the numerous hardware and software launches for iPhone, iPad, iMac, MacBook, Mac Pro, Apple Watch, OSX, iOS, Apple Music, etc during those years as well as the role that Cook had in ensuring their success. He also goes into interesting detail regarding the planning and realization of the new Apple Park headquarters.

Kahney fairly criticizes Cook and his team for the premature launch of Apple Maps and particularly the ephemeral, on-again / off-again status of Project Titan, for the much rumored self-driving Apple Car. But I believe that he did not go far enough. Apple is now at a significant crossroads. Continued growth is only going to be ensured by entrances into entire new product offerings, particularly in the service sector. I believe that Kahney missed a key set of discussion points regarding Cook’s potential for keeping Apple on its current growth track. The last decade has been great, and it has been led primarily by hardware, much of it originally conceived in the Jobs era. Okay, now what?

Kahney does a particularly good job in describing the facts surrounding the government’s demand for Apple to assist with the decryption of the San Bernardino assailant’s iPhone and Cook’s refusal to budge on Apple’s commitment to privacy. In the end, Cook and Apple were vindicated by the press and court of public opinion.

He spends roughly a quarter of the book going into quite a bit of detail regarding Cook’s commitment to the environment and diversity. In having known and worked with Tim, I do not doubt his commitment to these values and his leadership in ingraining them in Apple’s culture, but I still felt that I was reading a series of Apple press releases as I waded through this significant portion of the book.

In summary, the book is a very worthwhile read and you should come away with a great deal of respect for Tim Cook and what he has achieved. Kahney tends to cheerleading throughout much of the book in making his case, but I do not quarrel with his conclusions. I only wonder now what is next for Cook. As he is only fifty-nine years old, would there not be some potential for him to enter politics? Time will tell. But I know this. He has much to offer as a visionary and leader. As I am a longtime conservative Republican, I am not at all reluctant to say that I would certainly give him a shot."

As I am a longtime conservative Republican, I am not at all reluctant to say that I would certainly give him a shot.
  • I pre-purchased this book as soon as it was announced. I have wanted to learn more about Tim Cook for many years. It’s a quick read, I finished it in one sitting. The first third of the book covers Tim’s early life and career up until he becomes the acting CEO at Apple. I found this part of the book to be extremely interesting. It provided and insight into the man, his motivations, and the processes that he learned, brought to Apple, and perfected, and that truly turned Apple into the juggernaut that it is today. I felt the remaining two thirds of the book was a bland retelling of publicly available facts and figures and published stories. I’m sure it is very difficult to get on the record interviews regarding Tim’s actions since he is still at Apple though.
  • Great book was a great history of Apple and all Mr. Cook has added. He has done a great job and how he keeps all departments in order is quit un real. Enjoyed the book.
  • I read half of the book. There are very specific information not available anywhere.
  • Imagine if Elon Musk could hire a guy that made sure each of his new cars could be sold the day following their announcement, in all markets, at the right quality with the exact customer requested options. This is who Steve Jobs managed to hire with Tim Cook.
Since this book is the first on the subject there is no better option, unfortunately. The author does a good job of combing existing books, publications and videos to construct a decent retrospective timeline but there is no investigation to speak of. Being blessed by Apple PR the author could not stray from the official Apple history.
The research work falls short of unearthing anything new and many questions remain unanswered. What happened when the Irish, Singapore and California plants were stopped? What did Apple lose in the outsourcing process? How did Foxconn the Taiwanese company manage the build its mammoth operation in Mainland China despite the political tensions?
The author reminds us of the various iPhone novelties with no hint of what Tim Cook may or may not have done in the process. With the iPhone X there is nothing outlining his role. He also fails to tell what led him to distribute dividends despite Steve jobs history of not doing it.
There is probably a signed agreement preventing Scott Forstall to give his version of the story but why not ask Tony Fadell and other former Apple employees? And some Chinese executives?
Tim Cook’s work and mark is very very impressive. However this book leaves a lot of room for a more thorough investigation.
  • Don't buy it. All this author has done is take public information about Cook and Apple and organized it. There is little or no information that provides insight about the person.
  • Pretty interesting account of a major CEO. Gives me a big respect for him. Thanks Tim and Apple for putting me the consumer first instead of anyone wanting to sell my info for profit
  • After reading the sinopsis, this book looks promising. From a photographer point of view, the imagery is stunning. It feels as if Tim looked for that natural effect, which resembles his transparency in not wanting to cover anything up and being remembered for who he is. Can’t wait to finish reading the book, I’m hooked!

Master Sergeant William Cornett (United States Air Force) became yet another countless victim of the Department of Defense (DoD) noncombat health care system in the fall of 2013. His death was the direct result of unqualified people practicing medicine. Upon entering his provider’s names through the National Provider Identifier (NPI) registry, it was noticed the individuals that signed their credentials as doctors were actually licensed as a student and a general practice dentist.
In the twenty-first century, the DoD is abusing the casualty provisions put in place by President Abraham Lincoln to “care for him who shall have borne the battle, his widow, and orphan” to justify the most egregious medical disabilities and deaths of active duty service personnel and their families (Lincoln 1865). Military health care as currently provided by the DoD is driven by the Feres Doctrine, an antiquated law dating back to 1950. This law guarantees three items, including (1) the destruction of the integrity of military service families, (2) the inability of the military to be at its very best when defending the national and international interests of the United States, and (3) the continued abuse of casualty provisions with no accountability for this agency as it polices itself.
It is long overdue to bring the DoD noncombat health care system into the twenty-first century. This includes ensuring all noncombat health care is administered by board-certified medical providers practicing within the scope of their practice and following the same EBP standards as their civilian counterparts. Although this type of health care is already mandated by the DOD Manual 6025.13, the standards are not being followed.
Bringing the DoD health care system into the twenty-first century and amending the Feres Doctrine to apply only to combat health care is necessary (1) to protect the integrity of military service families, (2) to ensure the military will be at its best when defending the interests of this great nation, and (3) to provide a checks and balances system with accountability and oversight for an agency that is failing those that signed to defend our cherished freedoms!
